Central Government has extended the last date for linking of Aadhaar number with PAN from 31st March, 2021 to 30th June, 2021, in view of the difficulties arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It may be pertinent to note that the Finance Bill, 2021 has inserted a new Section 234H which levy a fee for default relating to the intimation of the Aadhaar Number. Accordingly, if a person who is required to intimate his Aadhaar Number under Section 139AA(2) and such person fails to do so within the notified date, he shall be liable to pay a fee, as may be prescribed, not exceeding Rs. 1,000 at the time of making such intimation after the notified date.
This fee shall be in addition to the other consequences the person has to face if PAN becomes inoperative due to non-maintenance of Aadhaar (section 139AA).

Stakeholders may also note that date for issue of notice under section 148 of Income-tax Act,1961, passing of consequential order for direction issued by the Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP) & processing of equalisation levy statements has also been extended to 30th April, 2021.
