Budget 2023-2024 : When, Where and How?

The 2023-24 Union Budget will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, 2023 during the Parliament Budget Session starting January 31, 2023. This will be her last budget presentation before the 2024 general elections and the government's fifth budget in this term.

This budget, like past budgets, will be paperless due to the Finance Ministry's decision to not print budget documents during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Union Budget will be accessible for download on the Union Budget app after the presentation is finished.

Date and Timings : 

Union Budget 2023 is scheduled to be presented in Parliament on February 1, 2023. Budget speech usually starts at 11:00 AM.

FM will present the budget in the parliament.

Where to watch :

Union Budget 2023 will be live telecasted on national television channels such as Sansad TV and Doordarshan. It can also be live-streamed on the YouTube channel of Sansad TV, Doordarshan, and the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

How will be the Union Budget 2023 presented?

The 2023 Union Budget will be presented in a paperless format, as has been done for the past two budgets. The traditional briefcase used by the Finance Minister has been replaced by the bahi khata since 2019. In 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget by reading from a tablet.

FM had also launched the ‘Union Budget Mobile App’ for hassle-free access of Budget documents by MPs and the general public. The new mobile budget app called 'Union Budget' facilitates complete access to 14 Union Budget documents, including the Annual Financial Statement (commonly known as Budget), Demand for Grants (DG), Finance Bill etc. as prescribed by the Constitution.
